A Meadow House in Củ Chi

Mr. Minh gave me one of the most exciting design challenges of my career. He wanted a vacation home in Cu Chi that felt completely open and airy, just like a resort. The plot of land the house sits on is surrounded by a vast meadow, so we knew the design needed to connect with the landscape in a special way. The vision was to blend modern elements with traditional Vietnamese details like patterned bricks and decorative vents.

Interiors: Bringing the Outside In

Stepping inside, you immediately feel a sense of calm and simplicity. The color palette is minimal, mostly clean whites, contrasted with black fixtures and warm wood accents. This is a house built for relaxation.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, a bright and modern space with a large island and sleek, minimalist white countertops. The long window above the sink is framed by traditional decorative bricks, a nod to local style. What I love most about this space is how the large window connects you directly to the outside. It doesn’t just show you the garden; it feels like an extension of the room, bringing the lush greenery and natural light inside. Cooking here feels less like a chore and more like a peaceful, mindful experience.

The bathrooms are equally sleek and functional, featuring classic white subway tiles and black fixtures for a striking, modern look. The design is simple, clean, and elegant, creating a refreshing atmosphere. The bedroom continues this tranquil theme. With its clean lines and a simple black and white palette, the room feels like a quiet sanctuary. The large, floor-to-ceiling windows are a key feature. They practically dissolve the wall, allowing the occupant to wake up to the peaceful view of the surrounding meadow. It’s a design choice that makes the room feel expansive and deeply connected to nature, offering a sense of escape and serenity.

Ultimately, this house isn’t just about beautiful design; it’s about creating a feeling. By blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces, we created a home that feels like a resort retreat—a personal sanctuary where the owners can relax, reconnect with nature, and find peace away from the city.
