On September 28, 2023, the Nanjing Bureau of Culture and Tourism hosted a press conference to promote Nanjing’s rich tourism and cultural offerings, and I was honored to be a part of it. The event was attended by many local travel agencies and media representatives.
Ms. Ha Quan, the Deputy Director of the Nanjing Bureau of Culture and Tourism, shared her admiration for Ho Chi Minh City, noting its beautiful sights and unique culinary scene. She also pointed out that many Chinese tourists are choosing Ho Chi Minh City as their ideal destination.

And in this context of shared heritage, I was given the distinct honor of serving as a tea master. My role went beyond simply brewing a cup of tea. I was there to perform the tea ceremony, presenting the unique Yuhua Tea—a precious gem of Nanjing—to a distinguished audience. This wasn’t just any tea; it’s one of China’s top ten most famous teas. As I prepared and served it, I was sharing a piece of Nanjing’s culture, its history, and its very essence with every person I served.
I had the privilege of serving this special tea to a diverse group of guests, including members of the press, high-ranking city officials, and other honored guests. It was a form of “tea diplomacy,” using a shared love for this ancient beverage to build bridges and foster a deeper connection between two cultures. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a little piece of Nanjing’s heritage, served one cup at a time.
